Eths was one of the leading nu-metal band of the french scene between late 90’s to mid 2010’s. First albums feature Candice as original singer, who deeply set the tone of the band, with her unique vocal techniques which highlight her dark, poetic, mystical and morbid lyrics, supported by heavy and complex guitar/bass riffs.

There was some debates about what Rutsah song was about. Old blog posts mentioned a witch trial (because of the explicit part of the lyrics referring to fire stake and the main character combustion), and some noticed Rutsah come from Hatsur which is referred as an “ancient god”.
It is in fact not ancient, as it has been introduced in late 19’s century in a novel and taken back by Lovecraft for his horror universe, full of cultists trying to summon destructive gods. My hypothesis is that Eths’s Rutsah is about a voluntary sacrifice ritual to summon the Great Ancient (rutsah), which arise at the end in a deep reversed voice saying the god’s name. This seems to match all the lyrics lines and the ambivalent tone of the voices, spreading from excitations whisper and demoniac screams.
