Original track comes from Betraying the Martyrs album, The Resilient:

Betraying the Martyrs is was a French metalcore band from late 2000’s to 2024, probably one of the most notorious of this scene. The style of BTM is quite epic and distinctive, blending emotional piano, orchestral choirs, and powerful lead vocals (scream and clean), with heavy and dark metal rhythmic section. We assisted to the last show of the band in early 2024, and it was f* awesome. This is our tribute.

The cover project started in August 2023, when @Friops boldly told me he could sing the scream part. I was about to finish a first full cover (not released yet actually), so I decided to recreate all this song from scratch as well. I knew it would be challenging, but wow! The arrangement have so much layers (130 tracks on my REAPER project!), so much different kinds of sound, so much FX (165 on my session), and there were definitely some tricky parts to analyze and reproduce due to heavy compression (ear master @Friops was a great help for the most hardcore sections)! The most difficult was the vocals, and this is the reason why the project was put on hold for so long, until we recently chose to finish it anyway, even if we had to lower chorus melodies to fit @Friops vocal range, and ultimately, we were ready to shoot the video with Henri at the camera. Few days of video editing and it was at last ready for release!

It is not that bad we didn’t finish earlier, cause the project ended up benefiting from our last video gear upgrades. It was actually one of the early light show I made using our REAPER based light control system. But what a relieve to finally release it! After countless hours of work on this. My biggest cover project so far. I hope it was worth the waiting, and that you will appreciate the results! 🤘

Note: I wanted to showcase a bit of making-of, but I think I prefer focus on other project to finish. But let me know if you want to know more under the hood stuffs!
